Eugene Shutt

Eugene H. Shutt age 79, of Battle Creek passed away unexpectantly on January 28, 2018.  He was born on November 21, 1938 in Battle Creek, the son on Gerald and Opal (Borch) Shutt.  Eugene lived most of his life in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1957.  He was employed by Post Cereal for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2000.  Eugene was united in marriage on January 12, 1968 in Battle Creek to Sandra (Jaeger) Sly.  During the fifty years of marriage to his wife, they enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and their grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Gerald and Opal Shutt, brother; Jerry Shutt, granddaughter; Nicole Kidney, best friend and brother-in-law; Marshall Jaeger.  Surviving are his wife; Sandra Shutt of Battle Creek, daughter; Lori (Ron) Avers of Pleasant Lake, step- children; Victoria (Bart) Walker of Ceresco, Rick (Kathleen) Sly of Hickory Corners, sister; Carolyn (Bill) Walters of Florida, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, six nieces, and several great nieces and nephews.  In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Memorial services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Overflow Church, 3515 W. Michigan Ave. in Urbandale, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to service.  Private inurnment will take place at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bickford of Battle Creek.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
