Eugene Pursell

Eugene “Gene” J. Pursell, age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away on July 30, 2020 at his residence.  He was born on April 21, 1927 in Battle Creek, the son of Harry and Eva (Styphenic) Pursell.  He was a lifelong area resident, having lived in Level Park then Battle Creek.   Gene served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean war.  He was employed as a carman for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad.  Gene was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed gardening, lawn work, remodeling, and video games.  He was united in marriage on January 14, 1950 to Juanita R. King, she survives.  Also surviving are his children; Pamela R. Pursell and Terry Pursell, both of Battle Creek, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Palmer.  Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Rev.
