Errol “Jim” Latty, Sr, age 70, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016. He was born August 24, 1945 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Earle Raymond and Aida Marion (Young) Latty. Jim was a 1963 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and worked at Eaton Manufacturing for over 20 years where he was a welder and foreman. Jim enjoyed woodworking and carving, was an avid reader, liked to play golf and in his younger years was a great basketball player. On December 28, 1992 he was married to the former Kathy A. Messer and she preceded him in death on August 14, 1996. He was also preceded by his parents, brother Bob Latty, nephew Mike Latty and cousin Grace Bennett. Jim is survived by his four children: Errol (Yolanda) Latty, Jr., Doreen Latty Smith, David E. (Erin) Latty and Lorinda Latty; two step-children: Kimberly Hoefler and Matthew Hoefler; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Lois Carole Latty; two brothers: Brad E. (Kathy) Latty and Rick Robert Latty; niece Karen (Jeff) Kimble and nephew Kenneth Latty. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home with interment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
