Ernest L. Vega, age 74, of Battle Creek, passed away on April 30, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, TX. On April 14, 1946, the son of Joe and Amelie (Escobar) Vega. Ernest served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for two year. As an Airforce Hispanic employment manager, he raised funds and awarded scholarships to students. In 1976, he moved to Battle Creek from San Antonio, TX. And worked for Cataloging and Stardization (CASC) at the Battle Creek Federal Center, where he also worked as a program manager before his retirement in December 1998 after thirty years of service. He enjoyed vacations with his grandkids and family, working on cars, welding, gardening, and building things for his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Rosalie Carter. Surviving are his wife of 50 years; Rosalinda (Quiroga) Vega, sons; Joe A. (Polly) Vega, Ernest M. (Shannon) Vega, Christopher ( Carli Roche) Vega, sister; Roberta Gonzalez of San Antonio, TX., grandchildren; Alejandro, Veronica, Grace, Isabella, Brendan, Gabriel, Tyler, Christopher Paul and Sydnie. Private Family services were held at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, with interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Grace Hospice.
