Emily Dore

Died Thursday, April 11, 2019, in Battle Creek. Emily was born on May 4, 1921, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of Anton J. and Margaret J. (Pietz) Kaufmann. She had been a resident of the area since 1946 coming from Mt. Clemens, MI. She was a graduate of St. Andrews High School. She attended Central Michigan University and the received her Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin. On August 10, 1957, she was united in marriage to Eugene A. Dore, who survives. Emily taught at Bad Axe, Mt. Clemens, W.K. Kellogg Jr. High School and Northwestern until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the bible study group, the Retired School Personnel, the Battle Creek Chapter of Antique Classic Car Club and the Battle Creek Social Club. She enjoyed antiquing and was on the school employees bowling league. Surviving is a son, Eugene H. ( Anita ) Dore of Battle Creek; a granddaughter; Carla Jo (Daniel) Olguin and a grandson, David Dore; a great grandson, Wyatt; a sister, Kathryn Weaver of Texas and a brother, Tony Kaufmann of Ohio. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Robertson. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
