Emelia Ann Blazekovic, 99, of Battle Creek, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Emelia was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on January 10, 1914 to Frances and Imbro Martinovich. She graduated from St. Philip High School and later married Steve W. Blazekovic on October 19, 1935. Emelia was the first 50-year employee of the Kellogg Company and worked in a variety of areas, but much of her tenure was in the “3-A” department. She remembered often seeing W.K. Kellogg on campus and took a great deal of pride in her work and association with the company. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, the Kellogg 25 Year Club and the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge. She has always been known for her sewing and crocheting, for which she won awards; her passion for cooking and baking, and simply, her loving and generous devotion to family and children. Emelia’s memory lives on through the love of her son, Robert S. Blazekovic and wife, Olene, of Fort Myers, Florida; her daughter, MaryAnn Sacharski and husband, Michael, of Honolulu, Hawaii; her four grandchildren: Robert Blazekovic, Jr., Steven Blazekovic and Christin Blazekovic of Florida and Aaron J. Sacharski of Tokyo, Japan. Emelia is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Hannah, Franchesca, Nicole and Christian Blazekovic, Megan McElwee, Morgan Brown and Chase Blazekovic. She is also survived by her brother: Steve Martinovich of Battle Creek, sister, Barbara Zidarevich of California and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother: John Martinovich and two sisters: Theresa Komarck and Maryan (Martinovich) Weaver. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 4:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
