Elwood A. Priess

Elwood A. Priess, age 81, of Battle Creek, passed away on April 22, 2024 at The Legacy at The Oaks.   He was born on January 25, 1943 in McMillan, Michigan, the son of William and Ida (Kisro) Priess.  Elwood graduated in 1961 from Newberry High School, and later Muskegon Business School.  He was employed as a detective with the Battle Creek Police Department from which he retired. Elwood proudly served his country with the United States Army from which he received an honorable discharge.  Elwood was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the American Legion Post #298.   Elwood was united in marriage to Beverly Priess, she preceded him in death in 2020. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Gary Priess in 2000.  Surviving are his sons; Timothy Priess of Battle Creek, Anthony (Maria) Priess of Las Vegas, NV., grandson, Cody (Megan) Priess of Nashville, TN., brother, William (Connie) Priess of Normal, IL.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.   Graveside service scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2024 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Rev. Travis Davis of Family Altar Chapel officiating.  Memorial contributions in Elwood’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.   Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
