Elsie May Griswold

Elsie May Griswold, age 77, of Battle Creek, passed away on August 20, 2024 at Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo. She was born on October 11, 1946 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Marten and Audrey (Letner) White. Elsie was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek. She graduated in 1964 from Battle Creek Central High School, then went on to attend Kellogg Community College. She previously was employed at the Fort Custer State Home, Riverside Manor, and the VA Medical Center from which she retired in 2016 after twenty-five years of service. Elsie was a member at Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Coldwater. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and porcelain doll making. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Virles and Daniel White. She is survived by her husband; Lewis Costley of Battle Creek, children; Allen (Kelley Cochran) Griswold of Brunswick, GA., and Theresa (Brian) Barto of Battle Creek, grandchildren; Zachary Griswold and Vincent Barto. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral service scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Parker officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
