Ellen M Duncan of Fayetteville, Georgia passed away in Dawsonville, Georgia at the age of 94. Ellen was born on July 3, 1925 to Arthur and Catherine Klaas of Battle Creek, Michigan. Ellen graduated from Central High School in 1943. Shortly after graduation she joined the staff at Percy Jones Hospital in the Patient Liaison office and remained there through 1947. Ellen moved with her daughter Sue to Okinawa, Japan in 1952 and worked as a clerk typist for the Ryukyus Command until their return to the states in 1954. Ellen joined the Civil Defense Administration/Defense Logistics Service Center in Battle Creek and after years of dedication retired in 1982.
Ellen began an incredible journey with her lifelong partner and love Harley Edward Stiving. They traveled to Hawaii, Alaska and visited the other 48 states. Visiting the National Parks was always on their agenda. Many of their vacations were with family which was always the priority. Ellen enjoyed family time the most but always made time for shopping with friends, picnics at Lake Michigan,gardening,reading,watching wildlife in her yard, traveling and Sullivan's ice cream.
Ellen is survived by 2 daughters. Sue Duncan in Fayetteville, Ga. Karen(Frank)Bennett in Dawsonville, Ga. 3 grandchildren. Nic (Caity)Bennett in Peachtree City, Ga. Mac (Ashley) Bennett in Flowery Branch, Ga. Karin (Dave) Gallagher in Ceresco, Mich. 3 great grandchildren. Lincoln Bennett, Cason Bennett, Camden Bennett in Peachtree City, Ga. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her partner and her best friend Doris Dow from Berrien Springs, Mich.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Hicks Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Golden Rule Hospice. www.goldenrulehospice.com Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
