Elizabeth Davis

October 24, 1937 — August 21, 2013

Elizabeth “Beth” L. Davis, 75, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully at her home on August 21, 2013.  Beth was born on October 24th, 1937 to Donald Plunkett and Jane E. Miller in Delaware, Ohio.

She moved from Ohio to Chicago, IL and then finally settled in Battle Creek, MI with her mother and adoptive father, Prentice “Pat” Miller in 1953.  She has called Battle Creek her home ever since.

On March 8th, 1958, she married the love of her life, Donald “Don” Davis and together they raised 4 wonderful children.  Don preceded her in death on May 23rd, 1992.

Beth graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and attended classes at Michigan State University before deciding to settle down and start a family.  She was very blessed to be able to stay at home to raise her children.

In later years, Beth decided to go back to school to pursue a nursing career.  She graduated from Kellogg Community College in 1991 with an LPN degree.  She worked briefly at Battle Creek Health Systems before finding her permanent “work” home at Evergreen Manor where she worked for 17 years, retiring in 2008.

Beth’s greatest joys in life were her home, her family and spending time with close friends. She especially looked forward to the family gatherings at her home during the Holidays.  She was a huge animal lover and enjoyed being with her 2 dogs and cat.  She loved to spend time in her backyard planting flowers and gardening, and in her earlier years, she liked to camp, cook, and was an avid reader. She also looked forward to her annual family vacations in Siesta Key, FL, where she loved to walk the beach and collect seashells.

Beth is survived by her Mother, Jane Miller, of Battle Creek, 2 daughters – Diane (Matt) Krimmel, of Marshall, MI and Dawne Franklin, of Battle Creek; 2 sons – Brett (Marie) Davis of Farmington Hills, MI and Blair Davis of Battle Creek; 6 grandchildren - Jade, Molly, Paige, Brad, Wade and Sydney; 3 step-grandchildren – Justin, Molly and Danielle, and 4 great-grandchildren; Davis, Layla, Aleena and Ava.

A private graveside service was held on August 29th at Battle Creek Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  In honor of Beth, the family would like to invite all who knew and loved her, to attend a “Celebration of Life”  gathering on Tuesday, Sept 3, 2013 at H20 (formerly Waterfront) from 4 pm to 7 pm.  Memorial Contributions may be given to: Calhoun County Animal Center, Inc. www.henryfuneralhome.org
