Edward “Pete” T. Petersen, age 88, of Battle Creek, passed away on May 24, 2021 at Lakeview Assisted Living. He was born on Nov. 16, 1932 in Battle Creek, the son of Christian and Edith (Troelstrup) Petersen. Ed graduated from Lakeview High School in 1950. He was employed as a pipe fitter for the Kellogg Company from 1951 until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club. Ed proudly served in the Coast Guard from 1952 until 1955. Ed enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. After moving into Lakeview Assisted Living in 2015, Ed could routinely be heard entertaining a crowd. Ed was also an avid sportsman, including fishing and trap shooting. Hobbies throughout his life included photography, playing cards, bowling, and softball. He was always up for a game of cribbage at his local hangout – Sweetwater Donuts. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan but his favorite team to cheer for were the teams his sons & grandsons played on. You could always spot Papa Pete, in the middle of the action, waving a green towel courtside or on the track during football games cheering loudly. Ed was also a civil war buff, and many knew him as “Mr. Trivia”. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, son; Mark Petersen, and sister; Lillian Wolfe. Surviving are his sons; Ken (Michelle) Petersen and Eric (Jill) Petersen, both of Battle Creek, grandchildren; Karlee, Kelly, Grant & Ryne, three great grandchildren, nephew & niece Chris Wolfe and Lisa Wolfe.
