Edward O. Slayton, 66, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday June 30, 2013 surrounded by his family at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on January 1, 1947 in Battle Creek to Richard C. and AdaMay (Binger) Slayton.
Ed graduated from Harper Creek High School in 1965. He had worked for Katz Well Drilling, TC Mechanical, and Freedom Motors. Ed was united in marriage on June 20, 1982 to Sally J. (Johnson) MacDonald.
He is survived by his wife, Sally, a son Mark E. Slayton, a daughter, Michelle S. (Ray) Page, grandchildren, Nicholas Slayton, Krista Ann Page and Kody Ray Page, all of Battle Creek, a brother, Bill (Pat) Slayton, of Ceresco, sisters, Joyce (Allen) Sutfin, of Battle Creek, and Deb (Bob) Beltz, his father, Richard Slayton, sisters-in-law, Cheri Slayton and Judi Bird, all of Ceresco.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, AdaMay, brothers, Duane and Rick Slayton, and a sister, Dorrie Slayton.
He enjoyed camping, woodworking, NASCAR, and all types of car racing. Ed restored a 1933 Plymouth pickup and remodeled every home he lived in.
A Memorial service will be held at 3pm Wednesday July 3, 2013 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Davis officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Food Bank of South Central Michigan or Habitat for Humanity.
