Edith Trent, age 100, of Battle Creek, died Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born April 27, 1915 in Sparta, Tennessee the daughter of James and Ova (Vaughn) Keathley. Mrs. Trent had worked for the Kellogg Company for five years and was a cosmetic sales representative for Beauty Counselor for 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield where she taught Sunday school and was a member of WMU serving in many capacities and currently is a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was a member of the Sew and So Club, Red Hat Society and the Knit Wits; and enjoyed playing cards and knitting. Edith loved to play Scrabble with her daughter Marilyn and Pinochle with her son Jim, teaching him how to play Cribbage at the age of 100. She also learned to roller skate at the age of 40 and swim at age 80. She is survived by her son: James (Carole) Trent of Battle Creek; daughter: Marilyn Smith of Cedar Springs; six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Ruth Crane and Juanita Shafe, and three brothers: Andrew, Eugene and Warren Keathley. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Faith Baptist Church, 13840 S. Helmer Road, Battle Creek with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
