Earl Leroy Dingman, age 96 of Newton Township, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. He was born February 13, 1916 in Colon, Michigan the son of Gay and Lucy (Gregg) Dingman. Earl served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked at the Eaton Corporation following his discharge, retiring on May 1, 1975. He was a member of the Newton United Methodist Church, Home Grange #129 and was a founding member of the Newton Township Volunteer Fire Department. Earl enjoyed fishing and gardening and wintered in Florida for over 20 years. On June 15, 1935 he was married to Letha (Johnson) who preceded him in death on November 11, 2002. Surviving are two sons: Lynn (Ellen) Dingman of Leonard and Dennis (Sue) Dingman of Burlington; three daughters: Suzann (John) Dadow of Battle Creek, Rebecca (John Carlson) Dingman of Bellevue, Connie (Richard) Judd of Brandon, Florida; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dorothy Nicholes of Colon, Marjorie Pierce of Dansville, IN and Letha Decker of Colon; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Newton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Newton United Methodist Church, Home Grange #129 or Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.
