E MAE BOYER
JANUARY 13, 1924 to DECEMBER 11, 2014
Service: Wednesday, December 17th @ 10:30 am
E Mae Boyer at the age of 90 went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2014. Mae was born January 13th, 1924 in Dalton City, IL the baby of Harrison and Oma (Underwood) Nihiser’s six children. In September she was able to joyfully reunite with her three remaining siblings that survive her. Lloyd Nihiser (age 99) of Amery, WI, and sisters Evelyn White (94) and Helen Moffitt (92), both of Springfield, IL. Her loving sister Marie Morris, who was like a second mother to her, and fun-loving brother Edward Nihiser preceded her in death. She married Jesse R Boyer Sr on October 27, 1945 in Vallejo, California after a whirlwind romance. They were married 47 years before Jesse passed August 24th, 1992. They are survived by five children, twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren. Their children are; Judith (Kenneth) Bennett, Jesse R Boyer Jr (wife Linda deceased), Hope (Butch) Hoover, Bruce (LeeAnn) Boyer, and Faith Tanner (husband Larry deceased). Work started young for Mae as she lost her father at the age of four and mother at sixteen. She had outstanding work ethic in everything whether volunteering or paid that she undertook. Among some of her jobs was that of a telephone switchboard operator, a nurse aide at the VA Hospital, and a long-term employee of the Kellogg Company. A highlight of her young career was that of supporting the US military during World War II making bullets. Mae was an inspiration. She was a 55 year breast cancer survivor and traveled on Mission trips to Costa Rica into her 80’s. Nothing gave her more joy than to share the story of her unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was an example of unconditional love, forgiveness, and optimism. She touched many lives with her outgoing and loving personality. She would be the first to greet a stranger with a “hello” and her infectious smile. She will be deeply missed. The family invites you to share your memories and celebrate this beautiful woman’s life. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 16th, 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm and the Service Wednesday, December 17th at 10:30 am. Both will be held at the Richard A Henry Funeral Home. www.henryfuneralhome.org
