Dyke C. Eutsey, Aged 67, Of Battle Creek, MI, Passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Dyke was born on November 3, 1948, the son of Wilbern “Bud” and Marguerite (Bigford) Eutsey. He had been a well respected and lifelong resident of Battle Creek, graduating from Battle Creek Central High School in 1966 and attending Kellogg Community College. In 1987, he was married to Patricia I. (Spillane) Eutsey, who survives him. Dyke began a long and storied career in law enforcement at 18 years old with the Battle Creek Township Police Department in 1966, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He remained Sergeant after the merger with the Battle Creek Police department from 1985 until his retirement in 1993 after 25 years on the force. Dyke then worked armed security at the Battle Creek Federal Center for 13 years before fully retiring in 2010. A man of faith, he was a member of Convis Union United Methodist Church. He was also a member of of the Fraternal Order of Police, The International Order of Oddfellows, the Area Law Enforcement Underwater Recovery Team, The Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team, was a sergeant with the police honor guard, and a pilot and owner, along with three police colleagues, of the McGruff Hot Air Balloon. Surviving are his three sons; Dyke, Seth and Dan (Christy), and his daughter Shayna; his sister, Sandra (Bob) DeVore and 9 grand children. He is united in heaven with his parents. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 18, 2016, at the funeral home with The Rev. Sueann Hagan officiating. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
