Dorothy Dean Tubilewicz (Dennis) age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away on January 13, 2018 at her residence. She was born August 10, 1924 to Emmerson Blair Dennis and Lou Emma Dennis in Terre Haute, Indiana. She graduated from Mattoon, Illinois High School and shortly thereafter, she moved to Battle Creek. During World War II, Dorothy worked as an inspector at Eaton Company in Battle Creek and two years in the Power Station office at Post Cereals. Dorothy met her husband, Sergeant First Class Joseph (Joe) J. Tubilewicz, at a USO dance at Fort Custer and they were married on December 7, 1946. They were married for sixty-four years until his passing on April 30 th , 2011. SFC Tubilewicz proudly served our nation in the Army for twenty-three years, until his retirement in 1966, when the family permanently moved to Battle Creek. Dorothy was a homemaker and raised three children while the Army took the family all over the world; including Japan, Germany and numerous stateside postings. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, PNA Lodge 2416, and a 30-Year member of the PNA and 50+ bowling leagues. She enjoyed bowling, golf, double deck pinochle, PNA parties and was a die-hard Chicago Cub and Michigan State Spartan fan. Dorothy is survived by her children Joseph J. Tubilewicz Jr. (Kathy) of Holland, MI.; Susan Lee Lampas (John) of Waleska, GA. and Lou Kreis of Simi Valley, CA. She has six grandchildren, Victory Ashmore (Jay) of Roswell, GA; Tracy Harrison (Jeff) of Holland, MI., Kristin Carithers (Trent) of Holland, MI, Jay Lampas (Mary) of Salt Lake City, UT; Kenan Kreis and Catalin Kreis of Simi Valley, CA. Dorothy also has seven great-grandchildren, Gibson and Reid Ashmore; Andy and Matt Harrison, Brenna and Noah Carithers and Ayla Lee Lampas. She is also survived by her devoted caregiver and special friend, Betty Thompson. Friends are being received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services with funeral services to follow, Fr. Rob Johansen celebrant, interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
