Dorothy L. Tack, 89, of Battle Creek died Wednesday February 13, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born January 7, 1924 in Colon, MI to Lynn E. and Esther V. (Snyder) Ambs.
Dorothy grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1942. She married Minor (Mike) L. Tack on November 1, 1944, who preceded her in death in 1984 after 39 years of marriage. Throughout her working years, Dorothy was employed by Eaton’s, Lakeview General Hospital, L.W. Robinson Co., and Lakeview Card Shop. She later volunteered at Battle Creek Health System gift shop, where she worked four hours a week and accumulated over 1000 hours of service. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed knitting, fishing, playing cards, working puzzles, traveling, visiting the casino, vacationing on Caribbean cruises, and spending time with family and friends. She REALLY enjoyed watching the Lions lose every Sunday. Grandma Tack was a lady and will be missed by many.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, David (Sue) Tack, of Owenton, KY and Keith (Nancy) Tack, of Ceresco, MI; one grandson, Jeffrey Tack, of Versailles, KY; three granddaughters, Lori (Chris) Riggins, of Phoenix, AZ; Sonja (Ozan) Erten, of London, England, and Veronica Tack, of Battle Creek, five great granddaughters, Danielle, Lauren, Madison, Emily, and Leyla, and one great great grandson, Hunter, a sister, Jean Clark, of Battle Creek, sisters-in-law, Eleanor Ambs, of Athens and Mary Ambs, of Galesburg, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, both parents, and two brothers, Gordon Ambs and Jack Ambs.
Visitation at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home will be Sunday, February 17 from 1-4 p.m. and a funeral to celebrate her life will be held Monday February 18 at 1 p.m. Procession and interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
