Dorothy Mae McKinley, age 94, of Battle Creek, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on February 26, 2016 at 4:45 p.m. at Bronson Battle Creek with her family at her side. She was born May 1, 1921 in Mt. Royal, Pennsylvania and was adopted by Herman W. and Viola (Boyer) Nace at the age of six months. Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aide from 1965 to 1992, first at the American Legion Hospital, then later at Provincial, Beverly and Evergreen Manor. After retiring she worked at The Emily Andrus Home. She enjoyed her work and got many awards and letters of gratitude from patients and families for the care she gave. She was a charter member of Battle Creek Baptist Temple, loved her church family and was faithful to it. She was preceded in death by two sons: David and Albert Dellinger; daughter: Barbara Gillespie; grandson Juan Gonzalez and sister: Estella Pence. Dorothy is survived by two daughters: Ardella (Lyle) Moiles and Linda Bowders; grandsons: Ricardo (Julie) Gonzalez and Albert (Val) Fisher; and great-grandchildren: Sarah Fisher, Kara Gonzalez and Alex Fisher. Dorothy enjoyed singing, sending greeting cards, attending all church services and reading her bible. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 at Battle Creek Baptist Temple with Rev. Lyle Dye officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at church.
