Doris Ann Searls, born January 16, 1933 in Boone, Iowa went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at home, surrounded by family, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Born to Patrick W. and Grace (Sherrard) Burke, Doris grew up and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Boone. She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company when she met and married Roger Paul Searls in 1955. Doris was a stay-at-home Mother for the couple’s four children; David, Jolene, Stephen and Linda but she also found time to work as Roger’s secretary, run her own business and be involved in volunteer work for the church, school and community. Doris dutifully and gracefully supported Roger in his career leaving her family and friends behind in Boone to move to Des Moines Iowa, Cleveland Ohio and Battle Creek Michigan. Doris leaves behind her husband Roger, Sister Jane Johnson, Brother Donald Burke, children David Searls of Lakewood, OH, Jolene Lussier of Battle Creek and Stephen Searls (Jennifer) of Union City, MI as well as ten Grandchildren; Tarek Hassan, Justin Hassan, Joseph Hassan, Ashley Scott, Tyler Searls, Brennan Leson, Evan Searls, Holly Lussier, Trevor Searls and Claire Leson, as well as one Great Grandson, Mason Hassan. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; baby Brother James, Sister R. Marilyn Schipper, Daughter Linda Susan Scott (Brian), and Daughter-in-Law Ann Horky Searls, Brother-in-Law Donald Johnson, Mother-in-Law Kathryn Searls Olsan, Father-in-Law Harold Olsan and numerous close cousins. Visitation will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Father Christopher Derda, celebrant.
