Doris Hill

Doris Delene (Johnson) Hill age 94, of Battle Creek, went to be with our heavenly father and her loving husband, Jake on May 20, 2017.  Doris was born on August, 20, 1922 in Battle Creek, the daughter of David and Erla (Davis) Johnson.  She was employed by the SS Kresge Store, Battle Creek Food Bank, Michigan National Bank, then becoming a homemaker.  Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and will be dearly missed.  She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, reading, collecting antiques and doing crossword puzzles.  Doris was preceded in death by her parents; David & Erla Johnson, husband; J.F. “Jake” Hill.  She is survived by daughters; Kathy (Greg) Sayers of Battle Creek, Maureen (Dave) Stringham of Holland, son; David (Sherry) Hill of Battle Creek, grandchildren; Mindy, Steve, Kathy, Duane, Kristin, Mike, Dan, great grandchildren, Brent, Alex, Tanner, Nicholas, Brooklynn, Zach, Peyton, Logan, Emily, Sam and Madeline.  The family wishes to thank Great Lakes Hospice for their care and support.  Funeral services are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to service, Chaplain Nancy VanderRoest officiating, interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice Care or the Bedford Fire Department.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
