Doris Fisher

Doris May “Dee” Fisher, Age 100, Of Battle Creek, Went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born to Ralph and Carrie (Pine) Hartsock in Linwood, Indiana on October 18, 1913. She was raised and educated in Elwood, Indiana. Dee was married to Lewis L. Horton on September 12, 1931, in Indianapolis, Indiana. They made their home in Elwood. She had made her home in Michigan since January 1, 1940. This marriage ended in divorce in 1944. Doris worked various jobs in book keeping and office duties. In November of 1948, she went to work at American Fire Apparatus. Harold W. Fisher and Doris “Dee” were married April 30, 1949. He preceded her in death in June of 1980. Surviving are, John (Sandy) Horton of Concord, Dee A. (Joel) Mackety of Atmore GA, Carrie M. (Michael) McCarty; 11 grandchildren, 7 Step Grandchildren and several great grandchildren and special friend Tracie Schaffer. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Urbandale. Dee had been a member of the United Methodist Women since 1959 and later with Faith Circle. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Richard Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Bouldrey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
