Donna Stevens

Donna Marie Stevens, Age 82, Of Kalamazoo, Formerly of Battle Creek, On Sunday, August 26, 2012, Donna Marie (Borden) Stevens, 82, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Donna was born in Battle Creek on December 20, 1929 to Calvin D. and Cora A. (Rex) Borden.   A 1947 graduate of Marshall High School, she was employed by Kresge's and Central Tool Supply before her marriage to William Frank Stevens, Jr. on April 23, 1955.  She spent many happy years as a homemaker, before going to work with her husband at their business, Steve's Auto Parts (later named Choice Auto Parts). An active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1954, she had served on every committee and held every possible office.  She eagerly anticipated the annual conventions and any time spent with her dear "sisters".  She was also a part of Lakeview Extension and was involved in many community activities.  Donna had the gift of hospitality and was known for her frequent parties.  She enjoyed reading, playing cards, musical theater, Shirley Temple movies and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Elizabeth Stevens, Kalamazoo; her son, William Frank (Lynda) Stevens III,Portage; and the grandchildren she adored--Rachael (Chris) Trumpower, Sarah Jean, Frankie Lyn and William Landon Stevens, and great-granddaughter, Rylee Josephine Trumpower, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Rex and Sidney Borden and her parents. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 30, from 5-8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 31, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home at 703 Capital Avenue SW in Battle Creek.  Memorials can be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. www.henryfuneralhome.org
