Donna Steele

Donna J. Steele, 84, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday March 25, 2012 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born on August 17, 1927 in Battle Creek to Frank R. and Merna G. (Manwarren) Crawford. Donna graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1945. She married Thomas R. Steele on June 30, 1946 in Battle Creek. Donna was employed as a secretary by Battle Creek Public Schools from 1960 until she retired in 1987. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, daughter-in-law Debra Steele, of Holland, MI, sons, Roger L. (Barbara) Steele, of Atlanta, MI and Phillip E. (Joyce) Steele, of Grand Rapids, MI, eight grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren. Donna was preceded in death by a son, Thomas F. Steele, a brother, William, and sisters, Catherine Bryce and Margaret Bennett. She was a charter member of Battle Creek Bible Church. Donna enjoyed sewing, collecting stamps, needlepoint, crafts, helping people, and she was a master gardener. She was a member of Bedford Stamp Club, Battle Creek Area Association of Retired School Personnel, Barry – Calhoun Child Evangelism Fellowship, and served on the State Board for Michigan CEF. Family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to  8pm Wednesday March 28, 2012 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday March 29, 2012 at Battle Creek Bible Church with  Rev. Roger L. Steele and Rev. Larry T. Messer officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Battle Creek Bible Church or Barry – Calhoun Child Evangelism Fellowship.
