Died Thursday, November 11, 2021, due to illness at home, surrounded by his family. Donald was born on September 4, 1943, in Battle Creek, the son of Carl J. and Agnes V. (Gothard) Sexton. He had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Kellogg Agricultural High School in 1961. In 1963, he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Burgess for 57 wonderful years, who survives. Don worked for Rock Tenn for 35 years retiring in 1995. He loved life, his family and friends. He and his son enjoyed antique cars and going to car shows with their “65” Chevy Impala. He enjoyed watching his daughter’s softball games, college football, especially Alabama football. Surviving is a daughter, Nikki Sexton, a son, Anthony “Tony” Sexton; grandson, Nickolas (Harlee) Sexton; great grandchildren, Payton and Nickolas, Jr. Sexton; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; sisters-in-law, Darlene, Bonny and Sherry. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, William Barney; brother, James Sexton; sister, Patricia Sexton- Pulver; a grandson, Anthony Sexton II; brother-in-law, Gary Pulver and a sister-in-law, Betty Smith. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Santa Helper Program, South Michigan Food Bank, 5451 Wayne Road, Battle Creek, MI 49037.
