Donald J. “Don” Davis, Age 82, Of Battle Creek, Died Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility after a 16 year battle with Alzheimer's. Don was born on January 23, 1933, in Crandon, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Jennie (Walker) Davis. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Don received his Associate’s Degree in Land Surveying from the Ferris Institute in 1960. He received his certification as a Professional Land Surveyor in 1966. He was employed with Chase Dekeysor Surveying from 1961 to 1966, then with Gove Engineering and George Snyder Engineering. In 1970, he established Davis Land Surveying, which he owned until his retirement in 1996. Don was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Church Dad’s Club. He served in various positions as a member of the Michigan Society of Registered Land Surveyors. He coached boys and girls floor hockey, baseball and softball teams and was a Boy Scout Leader with all 3 sons and 3 of his grandsons attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed spending time with his children as well as reading, golfing, fishing, hunting and oil painting. He attended all of his children's band and athletic events. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marlene (Gregurash), of Battle Creek. Also surviving are his children, Duane J. (Carol) Davis of Battle Creek, Thomas S. (Robin) Davis of Three Rivers, MI, Jon F. (Deb) Davis of Tucson, AZ and Patti Jo (Kevin) Rich of Midland, MI and 9 grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday January 21, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment with full military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
