Dolores Kathleen Woods, age 97, of Mission, Texas passed away on December 23, 2017 in Battle Creek, surrounded by her family. Born in Coloma, Michigan on March 10, 1920, she was the daughter of Harold and Tressa (Morse) Hombaker. Dolores moved to Battle Creek where she graduated from Lakeview High School. She married Veary D. (Bud) Woods on December 31, 1938 and they made their home in Springfield. Dolores enjoyed raising her children and was very active in their school activities. After the death of her husband she moved to Mission, Texas and was a volunteer at Mission Hospital Auxiliary in the nursery. She loved rocking the babies and gave over 5,000 hours of service. She was known as “Grama Dolores”. She also enjoyed traveling, dancing, fishing, reading and knitting. Dolores was a lifetime member of the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Dolores is survived by her children: Dawn E. (Stan) Zalner of Battle Creek, Diane K. (Martin) Stamler of Somerville, Ohio and Delores K. (Dwight) Clark of Fine Lake; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Harold and Arley Hombaker; grandson Daniel Zalner and special friend Carl Buck.
