Delores “Dee” Jane Wade, 81, of Battle Creek, died Friday, August 21, 2015 in the loving care of Bronson Hospice and her family. She was born January 3, 1934 in Wauseon, Ohio to Clark M. and Amber (Whaley) Shaffer. The family moved to Battle Creek in 1943 and owned the Battle Creek Rendering Company and then a farm. Dee graduated from Battle Creek Central class of 1952 and attended Central Michigan University. She was married to Roland E. Wade on June 27, 1953. They were married for 52 years before he preceded her in death on May 28, 2006. She worked at Clark Equipment Company until staying home to raise her family. Delores had a zest for life and enjoyed sewing and working with her hands. She was always growing produce and flowers in her garden, growing the best tomatoes around. She enjoyed sharing kitchen tips and cooking meals for family and friends at their lake home in Glenn, MI. Wintertime included her picking fruit off their trees in their Englewood, FL residence and mailing the edible sunshine back to her family. In later years, she enjoyed studying the bible, having quiet reflection with friends and she returned to sewing. She was active in the community belonging to the Cal-Co Quilter Guild and the Charlotte Quilt Group. Dee volunteered her sewing talents and supported a few Civic Theatre projects and the making of quilts for neo-natal hospital units and Veterans in need. She never stopped showering her family with special homemade sewing projects and quilts filled with her love. She is survived by two daughters: Karen (Alfonza) Burnam and Karol (William) Barrett both of Battle Creek; three granddaughters: Chris Burnam, Gail Davis and Rechelle (E.L) Chaffee; one great-grandson: Wade Chaffee; five step great-grandchildren; three sisters all of Battle Creek: Jan Rasmussen, Jean Hutchinson and Ann Shaffer; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Clark M. Shaffer II.
