Della Blankenburg, 87, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 22, 1924 in Hastings, Michigan the daughter of Herman C. and Rose (Severance) Blankenburg. Della graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1943. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, where she lived and worked till retiring in 1990. Upon retiring, she moved back to the family home in Battle Creek. Della was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved her cats, and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Ellen Ainsworth, Mary Huver, and Catherine Blankenburg. Surviving are her brothers: Herman and Edward Blankenburg; a special niece, Janice Keeler and many other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and family at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, from 5-7 pm today with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
