Deane Degroot

Deane E. DeGroot, age 82, of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born March 25, 1933 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Leon and Minnie (Uldricks) Reynolds.  Deane was a 1951 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and a 1955 graduate of Calvin College where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Education.  In 1956 she married Donald DeGroot at the Battle Creek Christian Reformed Church. Over the years, she stayed active at the church as a leader of the girls club, Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. Deane is survived by her husband Donald DeGroot of Battle Creek; three children: Mary (Russ) Lanenga of Battle Creek, Vicky (Gary) Ludema of Ada and Patricia DeGroot of Grandville; seven grandchildren: Alyssa, Geoff, Greg, Grant, Brielle, Rachel and Samantha; sister, Doris (Steve) Reed of Bloomfield Hills and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Grandia officiating.
