Dawn E. (Woods) Zalner, age 80, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born February 7, 1941, in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Veary Duane and Dolores Kathleen (Hombaker) Woods. Dawn was a 1959 graduate of Springfield High School. She was employed at Michigan National Bank before joining Kellogg’s and retired after 20 years of service. Dawn enjoyed quilting, family genealogy, her winter home in Mission, Texas and traveling in her motorhome. On October 7, 1961, she married the love of her life, Stanley P. Zalner, Jr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents and a son Daniel S. Zalner. Dawn is survived by her daughter, Ronna (Zalner) Bagent of East Leroy; two grandchildren: Kevin Bagent of Battle Creek and SSgt Sara Bagent, USAF; two sisters: Dolores (Woods) Clark and Diana (Woods) Stamler; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Emma. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Father Maximilian Nightingale celebrant. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Ronald McDonald House in Ann Arbor or Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence.
