David Lee Yeck, born on July 11, 1936, in Battle Creek, MI., the son of Loren and Queenie (Roberts) Yeck, peacefully passed away on October 11, 2023, in Kalamazoo, MI.
David lived a life of dedication and service. After graduating from Marshall High School, he felt the call to serve his country and joined the United States Airforce from which he proudly served for 41 years and received numerous awards. David's time in the Airforce allowed him to develop valuable skills that he would carry with him throughout his life. Following his honorable discharge, he became a skilled mechanic for the Airforce and continued to serve his brothers in arms from a different perspective.
With retirement came new opportunities for David. He channeled his expertise into delivering auto parts for NAPA Automotive. David's commitment to excellence was evident in everything he did. His work ethic never wavered; he took pride in his profession and approached it with unwavering dedication.
When David wasn't delivering parts, he found solace and joy in working in his yard. The smell of fresh-cut grass and the sight of blooming flowers brought him peace. His green thumb extended beyond the boundaries of horticulture; David had a special affection for John Deere tractors. Tinkering and restoring these mechanical giants became a passion that allowed him to connect with his inner child while experiencing the satisfaction of resurrecting old machinery.
Family was of utmost importance to David throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Beverly Yeck. He was also preceded by Frances Yeck (his second wife) and Dale Yeck (his brother). Their memory will forever hold a cherished place within David's heart.
David is survived by Duane F. Ice and Rodney D. Koch, stepsons, his brother Daniel (Sandy) Yeck will undoubtedly carry David's essence with him as he continues on his own path. David's impact on the lives of those he loved and cared for cannot be overstated.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation, which will be held at Richard A Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Battle Creek, Michigan on October 16, 2023. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence, starting at 11:00 AM., Pastor Paul Parker officiating.
David Lee Yeck's life was one filled with dedication, commitment, and an unyielding love for his family. As we lay him to rest, let us remember him for his service to his country, his skilled hands that mended what was broken, his love for John Deere tractors, and most importantly, the love he shared with those closest to him.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that donations be made in David's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org.
