David L. Wilson, age 86, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Borgess Medical Center. He was born January 2, 1930 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of LaVerne and Barbara (Brown) Wilson. David was a 1948 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, served in the National Guard and retired in 1991 from Post Cereals – General Foods after 39 years of service. He was a member of the B.C. Traffic Club, Post 25 Year Club and Post Management Club. An avid collector of early lighting, he was a member of the Rush Light Club and Historical Lighting Society of Canada. He also enjoyed collecting various antiques, photography and fishing. David was a Life Member of the American Federation of Musicians Local #594 and a percussionist with the Concert Band. He also played with the Post Band, Battle Creek Symphony and various local dance bands as a percussionist. David was a member of the Symphony Players Board and served as the librarian for the Orchestra for many years, and taught percussion privately for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nina M. Wilson in 1983, his parents and a sister JoAnn H. Garnsay. On June 2, 1986 he was married to Dorothy M. (Beckelheimer) Hill who survives. Also surviving are his daughter: Ann Louise (Robert) Siefgried of Woodbury, Minnesota; four step-sons: Timothy (Stephanie) Hill of Angola, Indiana, George (Kathie) Hill of Traverse City, Michigan, Philip (Beth) Hill of San Antonio, Texas and Jeffrey Hill of Augusta, Michigan; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Robert G. Muirhead officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
