David Shear

David P. Shear, age 78, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018. He was born October 17, 1939 in Plainwell, Michigan the son of David and Louise (Cherrington) Shear. David was a 1958 graduate of Lakeview High School and retired from Post Cereals after 27 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling, and was a member of the Post Sportsmen’s Club. On October 2, 1989 he married Mary E. Sowers and their trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina were something he always loved. David is survived by his wife Mary Shear; daughter Tracy (Jim) Kelley; step-daughter Lori Peters; two grandchildren: Ian and Chloe Kelley; Step-Brother Mikel (Karen) Neumann; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mary Louise Stampfler. A Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the chapel at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Linda Farmer-Lewis of the First United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. David’s family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the Food Bank of South-Central Michigan or Michigan United Conservation Clubs. www.henryfuneralhome.org
