David A. Carey, age 75, of Paw Paw, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018. He was born June 2, 1942 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Arthur and Cora (Eyre) Carey. Dave graduated from Harper Creek High School in 1961 where he played football and ran track. He retired from the Eaton Corporation in Marshall after 38 years of service and farmed in this area his entire life. Dave enjoyed auto racing as a driver, car owner and pit crew member, and in 1971 owned a car that finished 7 th at Daytona. Most of all he loved attending his granddaughters sporting events. Dave is survived by his two daughters: Kristin (Chuck) Truex and Jennifer (Jeff) Decker both of Battle Creek; four granddaughters: Avery and Camryn Truex and Paige and Laine Decker all of Battle Creek; sister: Phyllis (Rex) Kloack of East Leroy; two nieces and many good friends. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Funeral Home with Kim Clifford officiating. A private interment will be held at Morgan Cemetery.
