David Barve

David L Barve “Sonny” age 90 of Sherwood MI, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Battle Creek, MI on July 30, 1929, the son of David H and Ida (Perry) Barve. He grew up rollerskating, working on his grandfather’s farm, setting pins at the Bowling Alley and tossing papers as a busy paper boy.  He enjoyed scuba diving, farming and dancing at Silver Beach at St Joseph MI.  He proudly served in Korea at the end of the war as a medic.  He spent over 40 years working for Battle Creek paper companies.  David married Martha (Vogalla) Barve on June 7, 1975.  David was a  wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather.  He worked hard and sacrificed much to care for his family.  Always with a smile and with a generous heart.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife of 42 years to Tennessee, New York or just around Michigan.  He was devastated as her health failed and mourned her passing.  He is survived by his children, Char Sober of Louisville KY, Rusty (Anita) Hyder of Leonidas MI, Linnea Hyder (his care giver of 6 years) of Kalamazoo, Clara Terry of Union City, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and sister, Nina Gore, brothers Reid Wicker and Harry Barve. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brothers Edward, Vernon, Jerry and Charles. Family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 703 Capital Avenue, Southwest, Battle Creek on Friday, Oct 18, 2019 from 12:00 to 1:00pm.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p m.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of SW Michigan.  Friends may send condolences or share a memory at www.henryfuneralhome.org.
