David Barnes

David H. Barnes, age 78, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018. He was born August 5, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Albert David and Christine Margaret (Bradley) Barnes. David graduated from Lakeview High School in 1958 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from September 1958 until April 1966. Following his honorable discharge, he served two years in the Navy Reserve and began working at Ralston Purina Company. He retired from Ralston’s in 2001. David was a private pilot. He loved to fly and loved his cat Mickey. He also enjoyed fishing, watching the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers, was an Episcopalian and member of the Church of the Resurrection. On January 30, 1971 David was married to Frances Rose (Fahndrich) Bailey and she preceded him in death on April 9, 2010. He is survived by their daughter: Beth (Bob) Lepper of Dowling; three sons: Robert W. (Lisa) Bailey, Jr. of Whitmore Lake, William J. (Susan) Bailey of Clinton Township and David Alan Bailey of Fenton; six grandchildren: Katie (Brad) Jenkins, Kim Bailey, Bobby Bailey III, Alyssa Bailey, Billy Bailey and Gabe Lepper; two great-grandchildren: Drew and Luke Ribble; one brother Robert Eric Barnes; one sister Hilda Flynn and several nieces and nephews. David was also preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, Humane Society of South-Central Michigan or Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. www.henryfuneralhome.org
