Darwin R. Fleming, Age 87, Of Battle Creek, Died Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Bronson Battle Creek with his loving family by his side. Darwin was born on January 4, 1928, in Battle Creek, the son of Raymond and Coral (Sanders) Fleming. He had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Lakeview High School in 1946. He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army during WWII. He married Celia A. Van Sickle in 1950; she preceded him in death in 1971. He then married Verna J. (Vought) McDonald in 1972; she preceded him in death in 2000. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter from 1950 to 1990 and was a member of Local #333. Darwin enjoyed traveling and bird watching. Surviving are children, Michael D. Fleming of Battle Creek, Kathy L. Davis of Dalton, GA and Paula J. (Thomas) Guilfoyle of Ceresco, MI; step-children, Nancy McDonald, Peggy Dowling and Cathy Ferrell; son-in-law, Barry Rosene; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Fleming in 1991 and a step-daughter, Janice Rosene in 2004. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 6:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
