Darlene Spears

Darlene K. Spears, age 65 of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at The Laurels of Bedford. She was born October 18, 1946 in Granite City, Illinois the daughter of Arthur and Barbara (Beeby) Spears. Darlene was a 1964 graduate of Negaunee High School and then moved to Battle Creek that same year. In 1966 she graduated from Argubright Business College and was employed by Michigan Carton Company as a Customer Service Secretary from 1967 to 1988. She then began working at the Michigan Paperboard Company as an Administrative Assistant from which she retired in 2005. Darlene enjoyed reading, crocheting, word puzzles and television; and was an avid University of Michigan and Green Bay Packer football fan. Darlene is survived by her brother: Roger (Pat) Spears, Sr.; nephews: Roger (Shelley) Spears, Jr. and Kenneth L. Spears; niece: April (Robert) Brandon and children: godson: Michael Davis; uncle: George Roberts; special cousins: Patricia Davis and family, Brad (Eugenia) Roberts and family; half-brother: Stephen (Roberts) Spears and family; half-sisters: Gloria (Ron) Roland and Linda (Owen) Trent and families; seventeen cousins and their families; and beloved friends: Willy and Margaret Burbank. Private graveside services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
