Darlene Mae Smith

Darlene Mae Smith, age 89, of Battle Creek, passed away on April 6, 2023 at Glenn Arbor Place.  She was born on April 6, 1934 in Battle Creek, the daughter of William and Mildred (Gould) Weaks.  Darlene graduated from Maple Valley High School in Nashville, Michigan.  She previously worked as an admissions clerk and switchboard operator at Leila Hospital in Battle Creek. Darlene was a member at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and The Oaks at Northpointe Woods.  She enjoyed bowling on the Leila Hospital bowling league, traveling, taking trips to the casino, and spending time with her family and friends.  She was united in marriage to Lloyd D. Smith, he preceded her in death on April 28, 2000.  Also preceding her in death were her parents and a son, Henry Duane Smith.  Surviving are her daughters; Joyce Davis and JoAnn (Kalvin) Nelson, both of Battle Creek, six grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.  Funeral service scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 10, 2023 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Rev. Julie Elmore and Rev.
