East Leroy

Dan Loew Sr., 62, of East Leroy, passed on to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at his home.  He was born in Battle Creek on Dec. 14, 1958, to William and Doris (Lafler) Loew Sr.

Growing up Dan and his family lived at 4901 2 Mile Road in Athens.  He attended Athens Area Schools all his school aged years, graduating in 1977.

He was mechanically inclined, enjoyed working with his hands and learned the value of hard work.  He served the Lord all his life and understood the importance of family.

Dan married the love of his life, Teri Spring Mitchell, on Feb. 1, 1980, and they spent their honeymoon in “Paradise” MI. For 41 years they celebrated their anniversary traveling to many special destinations.

In 1988, Dan joined Drum Heating and Cooling Inc., starting as a technician and progressing to sole ownership, servicing the Battle Creek and surrounding areas for 33 years.

Dan invested in family, continuing not only the godly heritage he grew up with from his parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, but also his love and knowledge of animals and farming.  He enjoyed collecting 2-cylinder John Deere tractors and teaching his children and grandchildren the joys of working the land.

Dan and Teri were very involved with The Gideons International at the local, state and international level. He also enjoyed investing in the community, serving on the Athens Area School Board of Education, the Athens Area Community Foundation, the Athens Youth Council, the Athens Lions Club and the Athens Auxiliary Fire Dept. He supported many school functions including sporting events, tournaments, athletic boosters and Championship parades!

Surviving Dan are his wife, Teri Loew of East Leroy, sons, Daniel Jr. (Erin), of Homer, and Michael, of Traverse City; daughter, Kristin, of East Leroy; grandsons, Daniel III, Isaiah and Elijah; granddaughter, Johannah, of Homer; sister, Sandi (Joe) Miller, of Burlington; sister-in-laws, Neisha (Bill Jr.) Loew, of East Leroy, and Tammi (Merl) Smith, of Fulton; aunt, Martha (Carl) Best of Lerna, IL., five nieces; two nephews; and many cousins.
