Curtis J. Boughton

Curtis John Boughton 62, of Marshall Michigan lost his battle against metastatic pancreatic cancer on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 6, 1962, to Shirley Louise Bodell and Melvin Curtis Boughton both from Marshall, Michigan. Curtis met Cathy Jean Amaro, his lifelong partner and best friend, in the summer of 1998. Most days Curtis was outside working on just about anything. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything as long as he had a tool in his hands. When he wasn’t working, he was hunting or out on his boat.

Curtis was a lover of the outdoors. He was always outside, no matter what his mother or partner told him. He even went to and helped at demolition derbies with his close friend Bruce Johnson. He loved to crank up his radio and sing country and old-school rock late into the night, with his dogs at his side. Curtis was a down-to-earth man. He told you as it was and meant what he said. He was a simple man; it didn’t take much to make him happy. As long as he had his loved ones at his side by a campfire, he was content.

After Curtis’ diagnosis, he spent his time with close friends and family, out by the pool and lake. He spent his summers at cookouts and pool parties in his backyard, watching his grandchildren play. Curtis was brave in the face of his diagnosis, and never let it stop him from being himself. Even as his battle raged on, he made sure his loved ones were well taken care of. Curtis is survived by his lifelong partner and the love of his life, Cathy Amaro of Marshall, mother Shirley Louise Bodell of Marshall, and father Melvin Boughton (Mary Louise) of Marshall; Brothers, Christian Daniel Bodell (Kelly) of Battle Creek, Tony Boughton (Kara) of Marshall; Sisters, Monica Crandall (Brad) of Marshall, and Andrea Boughton of Marshall; Sons, Corey Jay Boughton (Jerrilynn Troyer) of Marshall, Cody Alan Boughton (Danielle) of Richland, Jason Ray Amaro (Stacey Sader) of Battle Creek, David Amaro (Rose) of Battle Creek; Daughters, Coren Boughton of Battle Creek and Melissa Lucia Neal (Ryan) of Bellevue; 16 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He had his special friends, Bruce Johnson (Lisa), Bruce Collard (Sue), and Jeff Messenger. He was preceded in death by his beloved uncle Jack Boughton and his son Justin F. Amaro. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Curtis is gone fishing, see you at the campfire. 10-4 good buddy. www.henryfuneralhome.org
