Corey Renker

Passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 25, 2021, in Battle Creek. Corey was born on March 18, 1973, in Santa Rosa, CA, the son of Fred “Skip” and Paula (Harrison) Renker. He was a graduate of Midland Dow High School and the University of Michigan. Corey had been an area resident for 16 years. On September 18, 2004, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sherry L. Bingham. Corey was the Tennis Pro at the Minges Creek Athletic Club where he truly loved teaching tennis and took great pleasure in helping his students improve their skills and to cultivate a true love of the sport.  He spent countless hours of time on the court with his son, Xander which established a strong father-son bond and wonderful memories that Xander will carry with him.   He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Michigan Wolverines football and basketball with Xander, spending time with his family and friends, and relaxing at the family cabin on the Manistee River. He was always the life of the party, a great husband, father, son, coach, and friend who would always listen and do anything for you and gave the best hugs.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his wife, Sherry, their son, Xander; his parents, Skip (Julia) Renker of Petoskey, MI and Paula Renker of Midland, MI; a brother, Christopher (Terri) Renker of Grand Rapids, loving  nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and a host of long-time friends . He was preceded most recently in death by his grandmother, Frances Harrison and his mother’s life partner, John Grambau. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Corey’s Life will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the Minges Creek Athletic Club.
