Constance L. “Connie” Britten, age 95, of Athens, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021. Also known to many as Grandma Nite-Nite. Connie was born January 18, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Arnold and Beatrice (Hoisington) Voss. A 1944 graduate of Athens High School, Connie worked at Walgreens for several years and retired from Federal Mogul in Mendon in 1979 where she had worked since 1968. She was a member of the Burlington Seventh Day Adventist Church serving as treasurer for eight years and was a Life Member of Athens V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 5319. On December 22, 1945 she was married to Norman L. Britten who preceded her in death on November 1, 1995. Connie and Norm lived at the same address since their marriage, in the home that they built. Connie was a loving person who would do anything to help anyone. She loved to garden, drive her golf cart, go camping and play games, she was a great corn hole player and even into her nineties would usually beat whoever she was playing against. She was always up for anything and loved to have fun. She enjoyed traveling out west with her husband Norm and later to Florida with her mother and sisters. Connie was also preceded in death by her parents, her son John in 1975, grandson Craig Whitfield, brother Lyle Voss and three sisters: Donna Olds, Gloria Spencer and Geraldine Gordon. Connie is survived by her daughter in law, Elaine (Michael) Warren; son, David (Linda) Whitfield; four grandchildren: Caleb (Tara) Britten, Noah (Kayla) Warren, Mike Warren and Sheri (Robert) DuBois; twelve great-grandchildren: Austin (Leia) Monk, Mariah Britten, Berkley Warren, Daxton Warren, Jordan (Madison) Rogers, Ashton (Brandon) Liniger, Alexandra DuBois, Lucas DuBois, Haley Whitfield, Jessica Dion, Nicholas Warren and Christopher Warren; four great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many friends and family members as well as her cat Callie, who she loved dearly. A private service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Bayani Pastrana officiating. Connie’s service will be live-streamed and may be viewed on her obituary page at www.henryfuneralhome.org for those not able to attend. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday and in following the current State of Michigan Emergency Order, masks are required in the building. Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Burlington Seventh Day Adventist Church or Athens V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 5319.
