Claris Charameda

Claris M. Charameda, age 80, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015. She was born January 19, 1935 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Clarence and Flossy (Dunn) Knowles. A 1953 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, Claris worked at the Harper Creek Schools, Kellogg’s and retired from K-Mart in Marshall. She volunteered at the Binder Park Zoo and Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, and enjoyed golfing, gardening and going to the casino. On November 28, 1953 Claris was married to Samuel John Charameda who preceded her in death in 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son Edward and his wife Penny. She dearly loved her family and is survived by her son: Sam (Janis) Charameda of Battle Creek; two grandsons: Scott (Aleisa) Charameda of Battle Creek and Erik (Anna) Charameda of Gilbert, AZ; six great-grandchildren: Mareisa, Mitchell, Andrew, Zander, Taylor and Brandon; one brother William (Beverly) Knowles of Battle Creek; two sisters: MaryJo Bowen of Battle Creek and Annette Alderson of Bellevue; several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 229 Collier Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49037, with interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
