Christopher E. Powell, age 16, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015. Chris was born November 7, 1998 in El Salvador and was adopted in 2001 by Randy and Bambi (Underwood) Powell. October 13th was known as “Family Day” in the Powell house and celebrated every year as this was the day that Chris arrived in the U.S. He attended Harper Creek Schools since the first grade having just completed his sophomore year. Chris was a lineman on the football team, threw the shot and discus on the track team, was involved in weightlifting and was a member of the Honors Choir. He is survived by his parents; his four legged siblings: Daisy Mae and Chloe Cat; aunt: Teri (Scott) Warda; four uncles: Bill (Beth) Powell, Mike (Tina) Powell, Al (Jane) Powell and Rick (Gail) Powell; cousins: Adam, Ben, Matt, Amanda, Scott, Tracy, Brian, Karyn and Nick; Godparents: Harry and Sue Ann Radspieler, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Harper Creek High School Auditorium with Rev. Kelly Hadlich of Friends Church officiating.
