Chester “Chet” Wilk, age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018. He was born on January 1, 1925 in Battle Creek, the son of John and Mary (Szmyd) wilk. Chester was a lifelong area resident of Battle Creek. He was employed by the Kellogg Company for 41 years, retiring in 1980. Chester was a member of the PNA Club, and enjoyed woodworking, golf, fishing and gardening in his spare time. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945, where he was awarded a purple heart and good conduct metal. Chester was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Margaret "Peggy" Wilk of 54 years, and a step son; Richard Cipcic, brothers; Tommy Wilk, John Wilk Jr., and sister; Delores Billington. Surviving are his step children; Carol (Alex) Machaskee of Cleveland, Ohio and James (Nancy) Cipcic of Battle Creek, Brothers; Stanley Wilk, Jack Wilk, Louie Wilk, sisters; Irene Mellich, Emily Lentych, Judy Shirk, Patricia Gresley, eleven grandchildren and seventeen great- grandchildren. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral services are scheduled from 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 11, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Codde officiating, with entombment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
