Charles John Secord, age 73, of Nashville, Michigan passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the V.A. Medical Center. He was born November 3, 1948, in Lansing, Michigan the son of Charles and Dorothy (Gray) Secord. Charles was raised in Dimondale and was a 1966 graduate of Holt High School. He went on to serve in the Navy and was a “River Rat” in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. He joined the Navy Reserve for one year from 1976 to 1977 and then joined the Army National Guard from 1977 until 1997, retiring as Sergeant Major. He worked at Oldsmobile from 1970 until 1974, and then later worked for the U.S.P.S. from 2000 until his retirement in 2011. Charles had a love for classic cars, paying special attention to the Chevy Corvette. He had a love for Bonfires or “fire” in general, doing yard work and things around the Farm. He was also a collector of Antiques. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 8260 in Nashville, MI, the Elks Lodge in Ionia, and the American Legion. Charles is survived by his son: John (Holly) Secord of Gaylord, Michigan; two daughters: Brandi (Tony) West of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, and Barbara (Kory) Browning of Chesterfield, Michigan; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Jill (Amado) Cardenas of Nashville, Michigan; one brother Gray (Etha) Secord of Dowagiac, Michigan; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jack Secord and one sister Charlene (Secord) Hoffman. A Memorial Service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Fort Custer National Cemetery. www.henryfuneralhome.org
