Charles H. Paul, Age 88, of Battle Creek, Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on July 15, 2011. Charles was born on November 5, 1922, in Battle Creek, the son of Arthur and Inez (Harrison) Paul. He had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating in 1941 from Battle Creek Central. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot during WWII flying B-17 bombers. After his service to the country he attended Michigan State University. On August 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Alice Marie Hall who preceded him in death in 1994; he then married the former Betty Carpenter in 2001 who also preceded him in death. Charles was employed at Post/ General Foods Corporation for 35 years as a foreman in the sheet metal department. He was a charter member of Westlake Presbyterian Church and was very involved with the church board and church activities. He was also a member of the Battle Creek Engineers Club, #12 F &AM, Post Employees Credit Union serving 25 years on the board and 11 years as president, past president of the Territorial P.T.A. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, was an avid reader, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an election official for Battle Creek township and city. Charles leaves behind a daughter, Sharon E. Paul of Macomb, MI; a step-son, Richard Hummel of Battle Creek; granddaughters, Shannon (Robert) Angeli of Rochester Hills and Nicole (Shawn) Langlois of Macomb, MI; 2 great grandchildren, Domenic and Giuliana Angeli; nieces, Ruth Marie Chapman and Linda Kay (Orie) Perry. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Westlake Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. B. Mason Shambach officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
