Charles R Medler, 69 of Battle Creek, MI died Friday, April 15, 2016. Charlie was born May 31, 1946 in Marion, Indiana, the son of Charles C and Martha Medler. He grew up in Fairmount Indiana and moved with his family to Marshall, MI in 1963 where he graduated from Marshall High School in 1964. Charlie married Joan Blakeslee in 1972; they divorced after 25 years of marriage but always remained close friends. They raised two children together. Charlie worked briefly at Eaton’s after high school before finding his calling for insurance. He devoted 48 years to the insurance industry and loved helping everyone with their insurance needs. He began his career with Prudential before establishing Medler Insurance Agency in 1984 Charlie was very involved in many civic activities and organizations over the years; including Moose Lodge, Harper Creek Optimist Club, The Elks, Battle Creek Field of Flight Balloon Festival for over 30 years and many other activities. Early in life he loved being a volunteer for the Marshall Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, cooking, bowling, driving and hot air balloons. He loved spending time with friends and family and was always there with a helping hand. Charlie is survived by his two children daughter, Michelle (Mark) Deisinger, son, Michael (Jaime) Medler; Four grandchildren, Meecayla Polendo, Hunter Medler, Taylor Medler , Isabel Deisinger and two great grandchildren; Brothers, William (Ann) Medler & Larry Medler. He is preceded in death by his brother David Medler. Visitation will take place at the Richard A Henry Funeral Home, 703 Capital Ave. SW, Battle Creek, on Saturday April 23, 2016 from 1-4pm with a service starting at 4pm.
